| The financial support of
the World Bank for this project is extremely important for the implementation
of this project in Vratza region where the ethnic conflicts, especially
the conflicts between the Roma and the other communities are predominant
and creating difficulties in the social field.
At the end of February 2001
in the area of Butan town and Kozludui town, Vratza region, representatives
of the Roma community declared citizens’ disobedience and blocked the main
road Kozludui -Vratza for several days. The avoiding and the non-discussing
the problems of the different ethnic groups in this region postpone and
deeper the conflicts between all ethnic communities, living in the area.
The planed interviewing,
assessment of the results will lead to the main causes and reasons and
the possibilities for conflict resolution.
The training of representatives
from the Roma community in conflict resolution will prepare Roma representatives
ready to mediate, negotiate and facilitate the resolution of these conflicts.
The Handbook will be used by them and all who want to learn more and acquire
more knowledge and skills in this field.
The translation of the Handbook
in Macedonian and Romanian languages will be of great help for the Roma
communities in these countries and the prioritizing of the donors’ programs
and financial programs to the Roma communities.
In the web site of the project
will be hosted the main problems of the Roma community in Vratza region,
which in economic, social, educational aspects in similar and valid
for all the country.
